Yeah, I’ve been bad at blogging, but at least I have a semi-valid excuse (or actually, excuses). Before I forget, here’s the latest set of pictures. (Contains photos of Badugi’s new mom as well as a whole lot of photos from the lantern parade.)
First off, my class schedule drastically changed. Instead of teaching littles, I’m teaching the kids that are too smart for their own good. These kids are being groomed to be the poster children of the school. It’s a lot more work, but it’s more interesting work and I have a whole lot more say over the class. Downside is that I miss my old students. There’s one class that I especially miss. There were only four students in that class and we had a lot of fun. They give me a hard time about changing classes every time that I see them.
Next, I’ve decided to go to graduate school. No, I’m not sure what I’ll be studying, but I know that I don’t want to spend forever in Korea. It’s nice here and the money’s great (amazing, in fact). But it’s not the sort of work that I want to do forever. I’ve started studying for the GRE and hopefully I’ll take it when I’m home in December.
I’ve recently resolved to wean myself of my computer addiction. I try NOT to take my computer out of the bag unless I really need it for something. I find that I get a little more done this way.
I went to the doctor the other day. I’m not sick, but there’s a list of stuff that I wanted to get done that I’ve been putting off. Mostly just unfun yearly checkups and such, but I also talked with her about losing weight. I’ve always heard that you should consult with a doctor before starting an exercise program, but I never too it seriously. Turns out, it’s a swell idea. She took a slew of measurements and then sat down and spoke with me about my habits, both good and bad. She also had blood drawn to make sure I’m not anemic or anything else. She pointed out some things in my diet that I didn’t notice (I don’t eat enough protein). Overall, it was nice to have someone to talk to. It was also wonderful to have a plan set up and work on realistic expectations (which I don’t always have).
Overall, life is insanely busy, but good. No, not just good. It’s excellent. I’m looking forward to November and taking the CELTA course and I’m really looking forward to being home for Christmas. The current plan is to come back to Korea in January and work another six months or so. Hopefully, I’ll have grad school stuff figured out in the meantime.
