It’s been a rough past few days. I have never, ever been so tempted to pack up and leave as I was yesterday. Yes, I’m pricing tickets. It seem like the world is conspiring against me. Which is just silly. The world has better things to do.
Anyways, one of my sisters once told me to give myself permission to give up and come home. Just leave the option open. If nothing else, it makes you feel a lot less trapped. And she’s right. I do feel less trapped knowing that, if I really want, I could buy my ticket and be home all within 24 hours. It’s nice to know, that for less than $1500, Badugi and I could be back in Kansas. But I have such a nice plan for the next few years of my life that I’m hesitant to abandon it. And as depressing as the Xmas season here can be, I’m sure I wouldn’t be that much happier at my old job. *shudder
But still, I am keeping my passport handy.
I’m sorely tempted to play hookie one of these days and finished up Christmas shopping. I’m pretty angry with myself for not getting it done this weekend, but that’s another story, which is neither here nor there. The story goes something like this: Blah blah blah blah and I really effing HATE Itaewan.
The stupid visa gauntlet continues. I half expect them to test me to see if I can run 5k and then jump through a flaming hoop. If these new regulations were designed to frustrate and annoy the foreign staff, then its working. In times like this, I must thank qkslvrwolf for introducing me to this song. It’s a very nice musical kick in the head. Peace.
Duncan Sheik
Bite Your Tongue
Such an annoying conversation
I’m sorry but I’m sick of trying
To be some picture of compassion
…and anyway it sounds like I’m lying
…and yes I’ve heard the world has conspired
To steal away your god-given right
To a happy home and comfortable children
Next you’ll sue them for abandoning you!!!
So bite your tongue
You’re not the only one
Who’s been let down
Bite your tongue
Maybe it’s good for you
To hit the ground
Oh christ…it’s gonna sound like I’m agreeing
With the most ultra-boring ideas
Or pop psychological western gurus
Who haven’t gotten lucky in years
…and so you see I have no intention
Of giving you the easy way out
Yes I’ll smile as I burn the self-help section
Of my local bookstore!!!
Bite your tongue
You’re not the only one
Who’s been let down
Bite your tongue
Maybe it’s good for you
To hit the ground
Blame the shapes and blame the angles
Blame it on your own dark planes
If you blame on something other
The victim’s song remains…
Remains…
So bite your tongue
You’re not the only one
Who’s been let down
Bite your tongue
Maybe it’s good for you
To hit the ground

You will not return to your old job. If you do, you will not recover from the taunting and annoyance as I pester and chastise you for that.
But hang in there. Though if you came back to Kansas, I guess that’d be cool too.
